Lore Addendum!
It has come to my realization that if pokers are nocturnal animals, they would have no reason to be as colorful as they are. While some aposematic organisms are nocturnal, such as skunks, they have a pattern that fits well for a dim environment. Perhaps the striped tail and body of pokers makes up for more dim lighting, but for rationality, pokers are now crepuscular, and need bright patches on their bodies since they nap during daytime out in the open, where predators can see them. If you have any ideas yourself by the way, let me know! :D

DISCLAIMER
You do NOT have to know about the lore to make a poker. The lore serves just for those interested in making their poker canon and participating with events in the server. Otherwise, it doesn't quite matter too much. All you need to know is:
- Pokers are mammals, so no scales or feathers. You can do rough, "scaly" skin.
- Pokers are poisonous, they secrete poison from their patches.
- A poker's poison color is their morph. The level of toxicity of a poker is related to the hue of their morph.
- Pokers are omnivores.
- Pokers live in rainforests, but also can live in mountains, prairies, deserts, or even by shores and lakes.
- Pokers are able to speak and use tools, but do not act entirely like humans.
- Don't shake a poker's hand!
UPDATE
A common question I've been asked is if any of the traits that aren't seen usually on a poker are inherently illegal, such as sharp teeth or smaller eyes. By the nature of the species, I say they don't have to be! As long as you can biologically justify the trait as an adaptation for their environment, I am more than happy to encourage it on your poker.
Illegal Traits
There are two types of creation rules, being "Illegal" Traits and "NAW" (Not Allowed Whatsoever) Traits. Illegal traits are illegal in the sense they don't conform to the lore of pokers, so they wouldn't be permissible in things like triclad designs in the PokerVilla server. However, they're completely allowed in personal designs or adopts.

Traits likes horns or extra eyes aren't canon for the poker species. If you wish to make a canon poker with these traits, you may replace them with eye-like markings, or hair that looks like horns.

Traits like wings, fins or extra functional limbs are also not canon. You may include fur or clothing that appears as such, if you wish to make a canon poker.
NAW Traits
NAW traits are traits that fundementally confuse the species of a poker. Pokers are simple, and simple enough to tow a fine line between "poker" and "lemur?". I would reccomend not adding these traits even for adopts or ocs.

Pokers may not have wet noses, animal ears, or long snouts. Pokers do have ears, but they're subtle, and mainly made of hair surrounding a hole.

Pokers also must not have fully plantigrade or digitigrade legs. Their body has very slack knees, like a plush animal. Long legs or highly anthropomorphized bodies are not natural for pokers. I am more leniant on this trait though, it just means that this poker probably wont be able to climb trees any time soon! Also featured on this poker here are the basic traits, being striped patches on the tail, patches on the toes and fingers, and a gular patch (it may be flat or small, but it must be there).
Chromo Slots
Chromo slots are the genetic interpretation of a poker's traits. This is optional for your reference, but it may be useful if you wish to have some guidance in creating a poker, plan to hybridize your poker or make a triclad.

Pokers have 21 chromo slots for autosomal traits. Traits are rated as Dominant, Recessive, Mixed and Mutant.Dominant traits are the most common traits, mixed are second common, recessive is third and, of course, mutant is the least common. A poker should have at least 4 mutant traits.Any traits not listed can be deduced as a mutation, all traits are on the table as long as they're not "Illegal" or NAW traits.

Rules
If you decide to make a poker, please credit me! I go by DymeArachnyd OR Snickels (els, not les).
If you decide to make adopts of pokers, please do not sell them to those under 16 years of age.
You are allowed to include pokers in your own headcanons or universe, as long as I am credited. If pokers are added in a creative project of your own that may be monetized, you don't have to levy any money to me. All you have to do is clearly credit me :]
Due to the nature of the internet, NSFW of pokers is fine. I specifically ask for no cub or feral whatsoever, and do not show this NSFW content to anyone under the age of 18.
You are allowed to make crafts featuring pokers, like 3d models, badges, pins or fursuits. I'd be a hypocrite if I said otherwise.
Please do not attack people who don't follow the design rules. Do not attack people who make species that may be similar to pokers.
Do not purposely steal the design of someone's poker!
Do not directly base your poker triclad off an indigenous group or culture, unless you yourself are part of that culture.
Do not use my species to promote hateful messages or pro-zoophilia/pro-pedophilia rhetoric.
Bases
Bases for pokers come in both Photoshop and Clip Studio Paint files. Photoshop files can be imported into a majority of art programs like Ibis Paint, Procreate, and Medibang. The files come with layers that can be easily modified by those who use the base. Minimal drawing is required.Click the poker hand below to take the morph quiz! It's not necessary to take, but it is helpful!
